Processing "Model Ready" Data
Once data is collected there are certain processes that can be applied to modify or qualify a data series for external use - such as numerical modeling. In general this includes time step normalization, filling gaps and applying quality codes. Typically what is called "Model Ready Data" would have all gaps filled and data points separated by uniform time steps. Model Ready data that is used to define the properties at the boundaries of numerical models is called "Boundary Condition" data. There are several tools and reports that can be used to aid in processing data to this level. The Boundary Condition Data Check Report (see image below) shows the presence of sizable gaps and the presence or absence of quality codes that would exclude the data from being approved for modeling. It uses the templates assembled for purposes of feeding models with Boundary Condition (BC) data and identifies those series that are not model ready.
